The Dark Flashes in the Night's Veil (魔法科高校の劣等生 夜の帳に闇は閃く) is a light novel of the second spin-off series for the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei series. This spin-off follows the Story of Kuroba Ayako and Fumiya who just entered the National Magic University. This volume will be released on August 10, 2023.

The Kuroba Twins stand up against an organization targeting Tatsuya! "Magic Highshool's new spin-off begins!"
In August 2097, the world was shocked. A single magician has demonstrated his ability to stand against the world Super Powers. The magician's name is Shiba Tatsuya, a member of the Yotsuba family who are infamously known as the "Untouchables", and is still an 18-year-old high school student at the time. Seeing Tatsuya as a threat and with this incident as an opportunity, he became feared by the world, and his life was secretly targeted by those who wished to maintain the current world system. In the spring of 2099, the twins Kuroba Ayako and Kuroba Fumiya enter the Magic University.
Ayako was looking forward to her new college life, and above all, moving to Tokyo, to assist Tatsuya, whom she admires since childhood, as a member of the Kuroba family, the Yotsuba family's branch in charge of Intelligence gathering.
However, Ayako and Fumiya encounters the shadow of the overseas mafia, who are after Tatsuya.[1]
