Sacrifice/Graduation Chapter is the 32^nd and the final volume in the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Light Novel series.

Synopsis[]

The grand conclusion of the high school student volumes, full of troubles for the inferior elder brother and honour student younger sister!

Tatsuya receives a letter of challenge from Kudou Minoru. Not only has he placed the Parasite under control, Minoru also obtained the knowledge of Zhou Gongjin who had had given Tatsuya trouble in the past and has overcome his only flaw — his weak constitution. And now he has returned to Japan.

He has only one aim. The young girl he’s in love with ・ Minami’s salvation.

On the other side, Tatsuya and Miyuki also desire to save Minami just as much as Minoru. However, due to differences in their beliefs, a clash cannot be avoided.

Tatsuya who has become *‘the strongest magician’* in both name and reality, and Minoru who has become *‘the strongest enemy’* carrying the power of an inhuman ghost.

These two will clash at the East Fuji Manoeuvre Area for the decisive battle!

Chapter 1[]

Tatsuya meeting with the secretary of the Sec Def. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya takes Minami, Miyuki and Lina to see Yakumo to see how Minami's condition is. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya discussing how to find Minoru. He asks Lina to use the USNA govt. to help find him. Lina is still in a spot where she can't leave the military. ◇ ◇ ◇ Minoru and Raymond are in Los Angeles with an radical group of magicians that are hiding them. They find out that Tatsuya is looking for him.

Chapter 2[]

The Defense Forces want to help with the Monolith Code exhibition match in order to get back on Tatsuya's good side. ◇ ◇ ◇ Lina asks Miyuki why the school competitions were cancelled. ◇ ◇ ◇ Miyuki and Lina go to 1^st High to meet up with the student council to discuss Monolith Code. ◇ ◇ ◇ The student council discusses about Monolith Code, the Defense Forces wanting to help and Tatsuya. ◇ ◇ ◇ The student council then discusses how to pick the players. Discussion with the rest of the schools led to an agreement that members of the 10MC will not participate in this competition. Mikihiko, Igarashi and Leo are chosen but Leo recommends Erika.

Chapter 3[]

Tatsuya is called by the Kanto branch of the Magic Association. They want him to come appear in person but Tatsuya keeps asking what questions they have for him. Tatsuya receives another call from Hayama and hangs up on the Magic Association. Hayama tells Tatsuya that he will need to attend a 10MC meeting with Maya. ◇ ◇ ◇ Miyuki and Lina arrive home. They discuss Monolith Code with Tatsuya and discuss Erika participating. ◇ ◇ ◇ August 11^th. Tatsuya is leaving for the 10MC meeting. Lina asks Miyuki why she doesn’t want to go, and she says that she doesn’t want to see the Ichijou. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya arrives for the 10MC meeting and Gouki immediately tries to question Tatsuya but Katsuto stops him. They question Tatsuya about attack by the USNA and NSU. Gouki and Gen both think that Tatsuya went too far with his self-defense. The general consensus is that they don’t want to incite persecution of magicians if they use great power without restraint. Tatsuya goes on to say that they shouldn’t completely trust that the government will always act with their interests in mind and that they should have some bargaining chips, such as strategic class magic. They move on from this to discuss the USNA. Tatsuya explains his meeting from earlier and lets them know about Lina being “rented” to him, as well as USNA technicians coming to Japan to learn the ESCAPES project. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya sees Masaki after the meeting with Liu. Masaki introduces her to Tatsuya. They discuss the plan to control SCM’s. Tatsuya explains the underlining meaning to this plan and how it’s not a good thing for magicians. ◇ ◇ ◇ Lina receives a call from Abigail Stuart, the magic technician that helped create HMB and Brionac. Abigail says that she is coming to Japan as part of the USNA technician team. She mentions that she will be able to stay for around half a year.

Chapter 4[]

Erika, Mikihiko and Leo appear on TV as friends of Tatsuya to clear up some misunderstandings. At first they refused to appear on TV but the reporters started to twist facts such as Erika dating Tatsuya. So they had no choice but to go on record to correct this. ◇ ◇ ◇ August 12^th. Tatsuya goes to school today and thanks Erika for appearing on TV to speak up for him. ◇ ◇ ◇ The Magic Association is worried about Tatsuya’s current growth and feel that in the future he will undermine their authority. As they begin to discuss if they should punish him, an emergency call comes in and the Defense Minister says they have no issue with Tatsuya, and they request that the Magic Association follows the same line of action. ◇ ◇ ◇ Maya gets off the phone with the Defense Minister and relays to Hayama that the message was passed to the Magic Association. They discuss that the talks with the USNA have made the officials in Japan nervous that Tatsuya would leave. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya, Lina and Miyuki arrive at the club headquarters and discuss if any special rules need to be added for women that participate in Monolith Code. ◇ ◇ ◇ Erika is practicing hard for Monolith Code. Tatsuya arrives to observe and can already see that Erika has some injuries. Erika tries to play it off but can’t hide it from Tatsuya, and he uses Regrowth. Erika thanks him and apologizes because she knows the side effect of using Regrowth. Mikihiko arrives and they discuss some counter measures with Erika, and Tatsuya mentions that he will create a magic sequence for her to directly cut oncoming magic with a thought controlled CAD.

Chapter 5[]

August 14^th. Tatsuya is reviewing the list of technicians coming to Japan from the USNA and recognizes Abigail. Miyuki is curious about that and Tatsuya motions for her to question Lina about it. Miyuki was able to quickly find out that Abigail made HMB and Brionac, and Lina was so surprised that she basically confirmed it. They discuss some of Abigail’s habits and tendencies. ◇ ◇ ◇ August 15^th. Tatsuya meets Abigail and they begin the tour of the stellar furnace plant. Lina and Miyuki are there as well. Abigail tells Tatsuya that Minoru has left the USNA. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya, Miyuki and Lina return home and they discuss how to handle Minoru if he arrives in Japan.

Chapter 6[]

A small cruiser is heading for Japan. Minoru and Raymond are on board, Raymond tells Minoru that they will be entering Japan’s territory on the 19^th. ◇ ◇ ◇ August 16^th. Tatsuya returns to Miyaki Island. From now on he will need to stay at the island indefinitely, while Miyuki will need to stay home so that she can go to school. Tatsuya had Hyogo pick up PIXIE for him before they leave back to the island. Tatsuya brought her along to cleanup his place and to keep an eye out for Minoru, PIXIE is excited to be able to work for Tatsuya again. ◇ ◇ ◇ August 19^th. Minoru and Raymond have entered Japanese territorial waters. Raymond counted down to the arrival and after entering Minoru quickly casted magic to check up on Minami, then casted Parade to hide their presence. ◇ ◇ ◇ PIXIE detected the magic Minoru used to check on Minami and then lost him shortly afterwards but she was able to tell Tatsuya that Minoru was close to the Shima Peninsula. ◇ ◇ ◇ August 20th. Minoru and Raymond landed in Japan.

Chapter 7[]

August 23^rd. Minami’s condition is getting worse, so Miyuki calls for the medical staff. ◇ ◇ ◇ Miyuki calls Tatsuya to tell him about Minami. She plans to stay home from school today to look after Minami. Tatsuya tells her that he will be coming back soon. ◇ ◇ ◇ Minoru is aware of Minami’s worsening conditions so he tells Raymond that he plans to send a challenge to Tatsuya tomorrow. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya arrives back and checks on Minami’s condition. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya arriving back home wasn’t just for Minami, he knew that Minoru had arrived in Japan. Tatsuya received an email from Minoru, he tells Tatsuya to come meet him at the military training grounds that are used for the 9SC. ◇ ◇ ◇ August 24^th. Minoru and Raymond are staying at a hotel located on the military training grounds. His disguises using ancient magic from Zhou’s knowledge and the 9^th institute can’t be seen through easily. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya informs Maya that he is going to go face Minoru, he plans to bring Miyuki, Lina and Minami. He also calls Yakumo and asks that he not interfere, saying that he will take care of everything this time. Yakumo also says he will talk to Aoba. ◇ ◇ ◇ Maya is talking to Hayama about the upcoming challenge. They discuss what tactics Tatsuya is going to use as well as why he is bringing Miyuki. Maya asks what Hayama thinks of this situation as a member of The Senate. The Senate is an informal secret organization that sponsors the Yotsuba Family, and in exchange they dispose of magicians that commit violent crimes or magicians that plan to do anything similar. The Yotsuba Family does not care for the 10MCs, Magic Association, or the Japanese Government. They only care about The Senate. Hayama is an agent of The Senate, and only the head of the Yotsuba Family will be privy to this information. After spending so many years with Maya, he places more importance on his position as Maya’s butler than as his position in The Senate. They plan to send the Tsukuba Family to encircle the area that Tatsuya will be fighting Minoru as a backup plan but they will not disrupt his fight.

Chapter 8[]

August 25^th. The area that Minoru called Tatsuya to was the area normally used for Monolith Code’s grassland stage. Tatsuya and company were easily able to enter the area which surprised them. They suspect that Minoru used wide area mental interference magic to manipulate all the guards. They meet up with Minoru and Raymond. They get right to the conversation of trying to get Minoru to get rid of the parasite in Minami. Minoru talks about his sad lonely past. They discuss their options but can’t come to an agreement so they start to fight. Quick play by play of the fight: -Minoru uses Spark. -Tatsuya uses Gram Demo and then envelops his body in a contact type Gram Demo armor. (Tatsuya came up with this after his fight with Yakumo, realizing he needs better magic defense.) -Minoru uses Human Ignition -Tatsuya charges. -Minoru retreats while casting magic. -Tatsuya doesn’t use magic and just chases Minoru. -Minoru uses Parade and Ghost Walker. (Tatsuya’s aim to destroy Minoru’s heart but he has to directly touch him.) -Minoru uses an event interference magic to distract Tatsuya, while taking out a card that contains a chemical beast that Zhou often used. -Minoru uses a thunderbolt based attack, possibly using the same principal as the chemical beast, and it knocks Tatsuya back. -After analyzing this attack Tatsuya is able to dodge similar attacks aimed at him. -Another attempt at attacking Tatsuya ends with the magic being destroyed. -Minoru uses Parade and begins to shift his position around as he moves behind Tatsuya to attack again. -Tatsuya uses Flash Cast to speed towards Minoru. -Tatsuya reaches out and touches Minoru’s chest and he feels his heart stop. -Minoru collapses and Tatsuya stands over him while staring at Minoru’s heart. -Tatsuya stabs into Minoru’s chest using decomp. -After destroying Minoru’s heart, Tatsuya used Regrowth to bring it back. -Tatsuya starts to analyze the parasite leaving Minoru’s body to use Astral Dispersion. -The parasite gets sucked back into Minoru’s body. Minoru analyzed the attack Tatsuya just used and figures that Tatsuya wanted to force the parasite to leave his body and then destroy it, effectively turning him back to human. He also figures that this power is the reason why Tatsuya can recover so fast. Minoru states that he can’t go back to being human because this is the only way to treat Minami. He needs to stay as a parasite or else the parasite in Minami can’t leave. He says that he is the reason that Minami’s condition worsened because she had to save him back in the USNA. As Tatsuya is aiming to kill Minoru, Minami stops Tatsuya. She doesn’t want him to die for her. Minami finally makes a decision to become a parasite. Minoru and Minami decide to go into a permanent sleep. Parasites can lock themselves in the same dream until they die. They request that Tatsuya watch over them so that this can be done peacefully and Miyuki also requests it. Tatsuya decides to put them into a dungeon prison that was meant for criminal magicians. Tatsuya asks Raymond what he wants to do and he’s surprised that he has a choice. Tatsuya gives him two choices, to be destroyed or to be handed over to the USNA. Raymond decides to go to the USNA.

Chapter 9[]

Minoru and Tatsuya work to make Minami a parasite that still contains their own ego. After confirming that they have fallen into a sleep, Tatsuya leaves. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya confirms with the staff that they are asleep and that their vitals are good. Chapter 1[]

March 8th, 2098AD. The graduation ceremony is a week away. Miyuki and Tatsuya overshadow all the students due to their identity as a Yotsuba. Erika was the leading female player in Monolith Code. Tomitsuka was top four for martial arts magic. Honoka is one of the best magicians when it comes to manipulating light. This was said to be a golden age for First High. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya’s friends are discussing their after graduation plans. Erika is going to the University of Magic, along with Miyuki, Tatsuya, Lina and Mikihiko. Leo is going to a school known as “Rescue University”. It concentrates on defense missions, rescue operations and large scale disasters. Mizuki chose a more “art” related career path, she has mastered control over her eyes and doesn’t have any problems without her glasses anymore. ◇ ◇ ◇ Mikihiko mentions to Tatsuya that some schools’ graduation ceremonies have been postponed due to the recent attacks by the NSU. Masaki and George plan to go to Magic University, although George doesn’t need to go, he wants to follow Masaki.

Chapter 2[]

March 15th. First High’s graduation ceremony is finally taking place. There are 170 graduates, which means that 30 students have left since the entrance exam, with 128 graduates going to Magic University. Tatsuya is one of the last students called up and is personally thanked by the principal for his contributions. ◇ ◇ ◇ After the ceremony, numerous parties are held by the “weeds” and “blooms”. Tatsuya and his friends are heading to a party as well. Some of his friends are curious about how Tatsuya was able to graduate without attending classes and the examination since he didn’t participate in Dione. They comment that the school must have been worked diligently in order to let him pass. Izumi walks up with Masaki, which surprises Miyuki. She introduces Lina to him, and he questions her relationship to the Kudou. He wonders why she is staying with Yotsuba instead of her distant family. Miyuki explains that it is just her and Tatsuya were asked to take care of Lina not the Yotsuba Family. Masaki is feeling a sense of defeat due to Tatsuya’s accomplishments, such as his engineering work and because he provided Masaki with his strategic class magic. He asks to speak with Tatsuya privately. ◇ ◇ ◇ Tatsuya asks what Masaki wants and he starts to question how his current relationship is with Miyuki. He says he likes Miyuki and Tatsuya says that he knows. Masaki then asks how Tatsuya feels about Miyuki, and he replies that since it’s her, he is bound to like her. Tatsuya says that he loves her, and Masaki begins to question every single meaning to each word Tatsuya says…………… Tatsuya says that Masaki only likes Miyuki for her looks, and he replies that he will come to love her in every way in the future. Tatsuya says that won’t happen because he is Miyuki’s fiancée and Masaki says that it was only due to Tatsuya’s luck that he has known Miyuki longer and that he doesn’t accept those determining factors. Masaki starts to raise his voice and say that he’s more suited for Miyuki. He then punches Tatsuya. They start punching each other with no magic involved while arguing over Miyuki. Tatsuya says they he will never give Miyuki to anyone, and applause is heard all around them. Before they knew it they were surrounded by classmates and his friends. Miyuki says that she won’t give Tatsuya to anyone either. Tatsuya tells her to run away with him and they leave. Lina is smiling with a thumbs up. Honoka is crying on Shizuku’s shoulder. Erika and Leo are smiling. Mizuki is clapping and Mikihiko is smiling. Izumi is glaring at Tatsuya and Kasumi is waving with a smile.

Tatsuya and Miyuki move on to University not as brother and sister but as fiancées. Tatsuya isn’t attending classes all the time due to having to work on Miyaki Island. Miyuki is dissatisfied with this current situation because she pictured her and Tatsuya going to University together all the time. Lina is always with Miyuki and they are secretly labeled as the dual “Lily’s’” of the University. Honoka and Shizuku attend university as well, and Shizuku sometimes attends meeting about the Stellar Furnace Reactor due to her family’s investment in the project. Erika travels around Japan on long vacations to expand her martial arts. Leo becomes estranged from his friends which Erika is not happy with. The relationship between Mizuki and Mikihiko has progressed the most. Their families are close and they visit each other very often. After being defeated by Tatsuya, Masaki is treated by the First High school doctor. When he entered University, he continues to approach Miyuki but is usually chased away by Lina. Masaki is constantly approached by beautiful girls in University, his sister and Liu are among the most frequent to come visit him. Liu now lives with the Ichijou family after defecting to Japan from the GAU. The Defense Forces are hoping for her to get closer to Masaki so that they can incorporate her into their military forces. The Strategic Class Magician Management plan set forth by Saeki was abandoned. Germany, France and the GAU have moved forward using this plan as a base, but the USNA, NSU and UK failed to reach an agreement on it. Saeki’s influence in the Defense Forces has disappeared. The IMEB has expanded under the control of Kazama. Sanada, Yanagi and Yamanaka have remained with him but Fujibayashi has retired. She continues to work for the Yotsuba Family. ◇ ◇ ◇ Two years later, year 2100. Miyuki and Lina come to visit Tatsuya on Miyaki Island. Tatsuya usually shuts himself in here after passing his exams. He proved a theory involving pushions waves and event interference, which made the university overlook his lack of participation. They go visit Minami and Minoru. Tatsuya wakes them up and tells them that he plans to launch them into space using the NSU submarine that Tatsuya sank during the previous attack two years ago. This is a measure taken to insure that parasites can’t cause havoc on the world again. The USNA has taken this approach with Raymond, so Tatsuya has decided to follow suit. This space ship will be powered by a stellar furnace reactor and will be able to last for hundreds of years. There will also be a procedure to help them procure supplies when needed. Minoru and Minami agree to go into space. After success of the launch is confirmed Tatsuya and Miyuki sit down together on the sofa. A new age for magicians has begun, which will spread across the world and the universe.
