Molecular Divider (分子ディバイダー) is a magic spell categorized under "intermolecular binding force reversal" that disrupts molecular bonds [1] . This causes any physical matter or material targeted by this magic to be split apart on a molecular level, regardless of whether the target is organic or inorganic. It is a lethal combat spell, excellent for anti-personnel and anti-armor combat. It was developed by Major William Sirius, a deceased USNA Stars Commander who was the predecessor of the current Sirius, Angelina Kudou Shields. Molecular Divider is a classified USNA military magic, which Lina learned after surpassing the previous user of it. [2]
Kichijouji Shinkurou mistook Tatsuya's Decomposition Magic for Molecular Divider when he saw it for the first time. Tatsuya in turn uses this misunderstanding to his advantage by implying that it was what it seemed, in order to conceal the true nature of his abilities. [2]
Lina activates Molecular Divider with her combat knife CAD. [3] This type of combat knife seems to be a standard issue hand-to-hand combat weapon of Stars. Benjamin Canopus activates Molecular Divider with his sword-type Weaponized Integrated CAD during his battle with Juumonji Katsuto, in which he extended the length of Molecular Divider beyond that his sword-type CAD to give it greater range. He used to slice through a layer of the Defensive Phalanx's barrier, though the barrier refreshed itself almost instantly. [4] Canopus also used it in multiple swift strikes to slice through the barrier projectiles of the Offensive Phalanx. [4] Furthermore, Canopus has used it as an extremely large scale, wide area magic to split a cargo ship into halves, killing Jiedo Heigu, one the the Seven Sages who was onboard the ship at that time. [1]
Molecular Divider does not necessarily have to be imbued onto a slashing weapon such as knives and swords, as Zoe Spica, a First-Class Magician and First Lieutenant in the USNA Stars has used this spell with her javelin shaped CAD. [5]
