The conversation turns to Tatsuya and Honoka thinks back to her failed confession back over summer break. Honoka says she wants to get closer to Tatsuya while Shizuku is away but isn’t sure if it’s okay due to Miyuki. This prompts Shizuku to think back to when she spoke to Miyuki and how Miyuki all but confessed that she loved Tatsuya. Shizuku starts to relay this to Honoka but she falls asleep midsentence leaving Honoka wondering what she was saying.
Miyuki and Tatsuya get ready to head out for the New Year’s shrine visit where they meet up with Leo and Honoka. Chapter 2
Lina has a nightmare about chasing villains as a magical girl. After a shower, Lina greets her colleagues, Michaela and Silvia. Michaela’s greeting is a little stiff. Lina’s reacting to a magical girl TV show prompts Silvia to start telling Michaela a story about Lina’s past but is quickly stopped. Once Lina is dressed the three discuss the mission and how Lina is going to First High where the targets, Tatsuya and Miyuki, are studying. The other two recap their assignments as well.
Lina’s first day at school is eventful and she makes contact with Miyuki and shocked to be beaten at magic by Miyuki and by the cute lunch set. At lunch Lina is introduced to Tatsuya and they all get to know each other, but Lina makes a slight slip and is subtly called out by Tatsuya and Lina has to make a quick excuse to cover it up.
After school Lina reflects on the fact with the questions asked it felt like she was the hunted and not the hunter but when Michaela and Silvia notice her melancholy, she quickly reassures them.
At school, Tatsuya goes to the Public Morals Committee and is asked is show Lina around. Tatsuya does so and introduces her to a number of people, including Juumonji Katsuto, Kirihara Takeaki and several others. While Tatsuya is talking to Takeaki, Lina notices the fact Tatsuya has no emblem and asks Honoka about it, and realises she hit a nerve.
A little later, when they are alone, Lina challenges Tatsuya about pretending to be poor at magic and test him by attacking him. Tatsuya easily parries Lina and restrains her when she tried to follow through with a second attack. After confirming she is done, Tatsuya lets Lina go and the two then part ways. Unbeknown to Lina, Honoka saw the entire thing from behind a corner nearby and from the angle she was at she gets the mistaken idea they were having a romantic moment.

After calling to get permission from Silvia, Lina joins Miyuki, Akaha, Eimi, Honoka and Subaru as they visit Wonderland. The group heads for a café there where they see Tomitsuka, dressed in a bunny waiter uniform, whom Eimi proceeds to shower with attention, despite Tomitsuka’s reluctance to humour her. In the car, Kokonoe tells Lina she must keep the secrets of the Kudou she inherited a secret and not share them with others, that is his only reason for being here. Chapter 10
Shizuku is attending a party in the USNA. She is approached by Raymond Clark and the pair head outside to talk. There he confirms the ‘vampire’ attacks in the USNA are real and related to an experiment done back in November to create a miniature singularity, based on string theory.
Later on, a slightly drunk Shizuku calls the Shiba siblings. After being forced to cover up by Miyuki, Shizuku relays what she was told. Tatsuya realises what she is talking about and elaborates, explaining magic needs more energy than is present, so the theory supposes that the energy is drawn from other dimensions. He goes on to say the weakening of the dimensional barrier during the experiment could have let something in.
After finishing her call, Shizuku calls Honoka and tells her about it too. The conversation turns to boys and Shizuku suggests Honoka be more proactive.
Next day, Honoka does just that, and hugs Tatsuya’s arm on the roof of the school, with Miyuki hugging the other, though Tatsuya is less than impressed.

Meanwhile, Lina runs up to Mia and greets her, but Mia is being distracted by spirits floating around her and giving herself away.
As a barrier goes up, everyone springs into action with Erika charging Mia ruthlessly. Lina tried to defence Mia from Erika, but Juumonji Katsuto arrives and blocks Lina’s attack. It’s at this moment Silvia’s message comes through, informing Lina of Mia’s being the ‘vampire’ in a white mask. Meanwhile, Erika is dodging for her life as the parasite unleashes an onslaught of magic in retaliation at her and the others present. Watching on, Mikihiko realises the parasite is targeting Erika as she cannot retaliate. Mizuki, unable to watch Erika be attacked, asks Mikihiko to drop the barrier so she can help by using her power to find the parasite. Honoka practically jumps out of her skin when chocolates for Tatsuya are brought up in front of Miyuki. Subaru explains all the first-year girls are getting him some to thank him for the Nine Schools Competition. Miyuki declines the group chocolates and states she will give her own personally. Honoka says she’ll be doing that as well.
Later, Honoka meets the trio from Third High at a café and receives her souvenir. Shizuku having gone abroad is brought up and the conversation turns to the exchange student from the USNA in her class, Lina. Airi comments on how Miyuki is on another level compared to other modern magicians and finds it suspicious though Honoka says she just can’t see Lina being a spy. They discuss the situation and how there has been a warning from the Master Clans that there a lot of operatives in Japan after the Yokohama Incident.
Tatsuya’s name comes up and Touko immediately notices that Honoka calls Tatsuya by his given name. This brings the conversation to how much he impacted Third High, especially with his defeat of Ichijou Masaki.
Touko mentions Valentine’s Day and the conversation turns to the plan from the other girls, and Honoka laments that the meaning of her own chocolates will be lost. Airi cheers her up with some kind words.
The four head out shopping and bump into Subaru, Eimi and Akaha, who are out to buy chocolates. The seven start chatting until Shiori spots the Shiba siblings and the girls panic and try to avoid being spotted by Tatsuya.
Meanwhile, Miyuki has spotted the girls, but Tatsuya is paying attention to a number of suspicious persons in the crowd.
Elsewhere, Lina is listening on the reports from her people who are observing Tatsuya.

Chapter 17
Honoka is having some one-on-one coaching with her teacher at First High to discuss possible combat applications of her magic. The teacher suggests maybe making a flash of light like she did in the Nine Schools Competition or support magic such as projecting images to provide recon. ‘Evil Eye’ is mentioned but the teacher immediately moves the conversation on. The teacher closes off by remining Honoka that such magic is only for emergencies, and she should normally call the police.
Honoka then heads to a public library to study and blunders on some information about ‘Evil Eye’ and contemplates using it to put people to sleep despite the teacher advising against it. However, the sequence is not one made public, so she decides to try making something herself using light waves.
Honoka spends her free time switching between studying her magic and making chocolate for Tatsuya until she overworks herself to the point it affects her duties on the student council, and she is allowed to go home early.
Lina walks home with the Shiba siblings after school. They discuss the situation with Honoka and Valentine’s Day. When the conversation turns to Miyuki giving Tatsuya chocolates, Miyuki says it would be weird as they are siblings, leaving Lina dumbstruck.
Later, at home, Tatsuya and Miyuki sit on the couch to discuss tomorrow (Valentine’s Day). Tatsuya feels he is being overly self-conscious preparing a return gift beforehand, but Miyuki reassures him it’s not.

It is Valentine’s Day and Miyuki goes with Tatsuya to Kokonoe’s Temple to give Yakumo some chocolates.
Later, on the way to school, Miyuki notices Honoka acting strange and subtly makes an excuse to leave with Mizuki and give Honoka and Tatsuya some time alone.
Once alone, Honoka gives Tatsuya his chocolates. In return Tatsuya gives her a thankyou gift in the form of some hair ties.
Nearby, Pixie stirs.
Inside, Honoka shows Miyuki her present before class.
Eimi comes to Tatsuya’s class to give chocolates to Tomitsuka and makes a bit of a scene.
Later, as the girls are getting changed for PE, Lina complains to Miyuki about being constantly questioned over Valentine’s Day and who she’s give chocolates to. Miyuki’s comment that it is because Lina is attractive leads to them discussing their figures and their skin ship causes a bit of a stir amongst the girls.
After school, Lina is walking home with the Shiba siblings and is planning to give Tatsuya some thank you chocolates, but when he suddenly hugs Miyuki, she loses her nerve. Reflecting on the situation along the way, Lina arrives home to be greeted by Colonel Balance.
