Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Yokohama Souran-hen (魔法科高校の劣等生 横浜騒乱編) is the manga adaption of the 'Yokohama Disturbance Arc' from the 6th and 7th light novels. The adaptation is by Amou Gin (天羽 銀). It was serialised for 24 chapters in GFantasy, running from October 2013 until September 2015.
Synopsis
The All-High Magic Thesis Competition is lauded as a more cerebral and refined contest than the action-packed Nine School Competition. After seeing more than enough gunfights and magical duels in between classes, this change of pace suits Tatsuya just fine. Unfortunately, not every spectator is content with simply enjoying the event. With rival students, intelligence operatives, and a foreign insurgents all in attendance, Tatsuya might need more than just his wits to keep everyone safe!

At the Yamashita Docks in Yokohama, Police Inspector Chiba Toshikazu along with his partner Inagaki rush to stop illegal immigrants entering Japan via the docks. The immigrants open fire when the police try to arrest them, so Chiba uses magic to subdue them. The ship tries to flee. Chiba orders Inagaki to stop the ship and boards. However, they find the rest of the criminals have escaped. In Chinatown Zhou waits for his guests to arrive via a well and when they emerge, he speaks with the leader Chen and invites them to breakfast. At First High Shiba Tatsuya is researching alchemic literature. Miyuki arrives and after a quick discussion she advises that Ichihara is looking for him. Tatsuya heads out to find Ichihara but discovers he was summoned to speak with Tsuzura Sensei about replacing Hirakawa Koharu, who has been sick since the Nine Schools Competition, on the Thesis Competition team by request of Ichihara Suzune. She requested Tatsuya and refused all others because he is working on the same topic, and she believes he is the only option at this point with less than 2 weeks remaining before submitting the draft. Later at the café Einebrise, Tatsuya tells Erica, Leo, Mikihiko, Mizuki, Honoka, Shizuku and Miyuki about him being on the Thesis team. Everyone is stunned when he tells the the topic is ‘The Technical Issues Surrounding the Use of Gravity Magic Controlled Thermonuclear Reactors and Their Possible Solutions.’ On the way home Tatsuya notices Miyuki is upset and he reassures her that he’ll be careful and that he hasn’t forgotten his existence is dedicated to her alone. Tatsuya notices a car parked outside their house and they discover their step mother Sayuri is visiting. | ||

The Shiba siblings came home to find their step mother waiting for them. Miyuki deliberately gets over affectionate with Tatsuya to upset her and then heads to her room to get changed. Tatsuya and Sayuri go to the living room and after discussing their relationship briefly, Sayuri reveals she’s here to discuss a project with Shiba Tatsuya regarding the analysis of a Relic. Tatsuya becomes interested when he hears the Relic can store magic sequences and agrees to help but when he asks for it to be sent to the lab at Division 3, Sayuri gets angry. After arguing, Shiba Sayuri leaves and after playfully scolding Miyuki, Tatsuya quickly follows Sayuri out. Sayuri reflects on what happened and is ambushed by armed assailants on the road. As she’s being threatened, Tatsuya arrives on his bike and he subdues them using magic even under cast jamming. As Tatsuya checks on Sayuri he feels bloodlust from a third assailant and is shot in the chest by a sniper. | ||

The Sniper hits Tatsuya in the chest but he quickly takes cover and instructs Sayuri to stay down. The bullet wound has already healed as he tries to locate the Sniper. Magic is used to retrieve the injured assailants and the car flees. As the car can be tracked Tatsuya focuses on the Sniper and using Elemental Sight, he tracks their location and kills him. Confirming Sayuri is ok they discuss the attack and the attacker’s motives. Tatsuya gets back home with the Relic to find Miyuki has prepared dinner for him. After their meal they discuss Sayuri’s visit and Tatsuya explains the Magatama’s ability to store sequences is a vital piece to completing his goal of realising a Resident Type Gravity Magic Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion Reactor. Miyuki reflects on their relationship and her guilt in her role binding Tatsuya. After Miyuki goes to sleep, Tatsuya contacts Major Kazama to report the shooting. The Major advises the cameras are taken care of and that they will investigate the attackers. Meanwhile in Chinatown Lu Ganghu reports the mission to acquire the Relic failed. Chen Xiangshan, the team’s leader, upon hearing about the Shiba siblings orders the team to add First High as a target. | ||

While Tatsuya is at home, he notices his computer is being hacked by crackers. Pondering whether the target is the Magatama or the materials for the thesis competition he quickly repels the attack. Next morning when Tatsuya is heading to the school library to do research for the competition, he meets Saegusa Mayumi by chance who is studying for her entrance exams. Mayumi ushers Tatsuya into a cramped reading room to talk and they discuss the competition and how Ichihara’s aim is to improve the social standing of magicians through economics. When Tatsuya shows more interest in Ichihara’s motivations than being in such close proximity to Mayumi, she gets jealous and tries to tease Tatsuya for attention. Tatsuya misunderstands, thinking she wants an appraisal he tries to compliment Mayumi but ends up flustering her with what sounds like a seduction. Confused but disinterested he returns to his work like nothing happened. Later Tatsuya meets with Isori Kei and they discuss the hacking attempt. Kanon and Mari arrive and discuss security for the thesis competition. Mari warns them that the participants are often targeted by academic industrial spies though it’s on the level of mugging and purse-snatching rather than hacking. Kanon states she’ll guard her fiancé Kei, but Tatsuya declines a bodyguard. Kei, Kanon and Tatsuya head out to purchase supplies for the thesis competition. As they leave the shop, Tatsuya noticed they are being watched and decides to ignore it but Kanon springs into action and chases the girl, who is wearing a First High uniform. Just before she’s caught, she drops a flash grenade which stuns Kanon. The girl gets on a bike and is about to escape so Kanon attacks with Mine Origin which Tatsuya blocks due to the risk of harming civilians. Kei uses Road Extension and stops the bike, but the girl activates a hidden booster and escapes leaving the trio shocked by her almost suicidal recklessness. Tatsuya pays a visit to Ono Haruka to discuss the hacking. She’s clearly displeased to see Tatsuya. After a brief discussion she reluctantly tells him that there has been a number of breakings ins at companies through Yokohama and the surrounding area which may be related. Meanwhile Chen and Lu watch the girl who escaped earlier get picked up through a car. Upon hearing the details Chen orders First High be added to the list of targets. | ||

Next day. Isori, Ichihara and Tatsuya are putting the final touches to the Thesis. Isori brings up how Tatsuya’s home network was attacked, confirming they are handing the thesis over physically due to the cracking incident. The conversation moves on to the incident the day before with the girl. Tatsuya surmises the situation is awkward as they can’t yet identify the girl and even if they do, they can’t act without evidence. Upon returning to class, Tatsuya sees Mizuki looking ill. Upon investigating, she advises someone seems to be probing the school and the nature of the attack is getting to her. Mikihiko confirms it as the spirits on campus are restless but he is baffled by how aggressive the attack is, as usually people try once and leave, not persist. Tatsuya asks about the method and they conclude the technique is a foreign one. After school everyone meets up and walks home. Honoka asks about the competition and Tatsuya confirms the paper is written but the models, spells and presentation still need work. People are surprised Tatsuya is the one tuning the spells as he’s a freshman, and it leads into a playful discussion about RPG character classes, with Tatsuya being like a Demon King. Realising they’re being followed Tatsuya suggests they stop at Einebrise Café. After settling down for a drink Erika and Leo make excuses to leave while Mikihiko writes down a new technique, discreetly raising a barrier. Outside the cafe, Erika casually challenges the man while Leo flanks him. The man calls for aid, but the barrier has isolated him. Realizing he’s caught the man attacks Leo and a fast-paced Melee between the three ensues. Leo takes a solid hit to the stomach and is sent flying, whilst the man turns on Erika and attacks with a knife. | ||

Marshall tries to stab Erika, but she deflects the attack. Marshall moves in for another blow, but Leo tackles him to the ground. Leo comments that Marshall is an enhanced human. Marshall tried to use the pause to escape but is stopped by Leo and he and Erika begin to interrogate Marshall. Marshall reveals that he is a foreign agent sent to stop agents from ‘The East’ from stealing any research data from the high school students participating in the competition, in order to maintain the international power balance as there has been an increase in espionage activities by them globally. Marshall then pulls a gun and asks them to bring down the barrier. Once it’s down he warns them they may be targeted at school and uses a smoke bomb to escape. Elsewhere, Chiba Toshikazu and Inagaki arrive at the Rotterwald to meet an information broker, despite objection from Inagaki. There they are approached by Fujibayashi Kyouko, who reveals she knows who Chiba is and that she’s the daughter of a prestigious magician family, before suggesting they cooperate. Fujibayashi gets a call and has to step out, so Inagaki asks Chiba who she is and is shocked when Chiba tells him that she’s the Granddaughter of Kudou Retsu of the Ten Master Clans. In her car, Fujibayashi accesses the surveillance system and is troubled by the actions of Tatsuya’s friends, yet impressed by Mikihiko’s barrier. Realizing that the incident might spook the ‘prey’ Major Kazama is after, she alters the data. Marshall is retreating at high speed when he realizes that he’s being followed. He stops to find his pursuer, Lu Ganghu, has got ahead of him. Marshall draws his gun as he leaps back but Ganghu closes in an instant, breaking his wrist. Marshall tries to stab Ganghu in the head but is blocked by magic. Ganghu then grabs Marshall by the neck and kills him, before incinerating the body and walking away. | ||

The preparations for the Thesis Competition are well underway with many students working together to get the work done in time. Tatsuya’s classmates come to find him, but Erika disrupts the workers angering Kirihara, who’s on guard duty. Erika ignores his reprimand talks to Mibu Sayaka who tries to smooth things over by helping Kirihara explain what’s going on. They advise Erika that the presentation requires various spells and devices producing and it takes a large number of people to do the work. Tatsuya asks her why she’s there and she mentions Mizuki was called to help. Tatsuya asks if she’s worrying about what Marshall said and Erika admits she worried there are helpers mixed with the students. Miyuki calls Erika over so the experiment can continue, and the students test the Fixed Temperature Plasma Generator they have built. The experiment a success, Erika turns to talk to Sayaka who suddenly dashes off. Sayaka chases down a freshman called Hirakawa Chiaki and as Erika and Kirihara arrive, Sayaka confronts Chiaki over the password cracker she’s carrying. Sayaka tries to convince Chiaki to stop working with the people who gave her the tool but to no avail. Chiaki then throws a flash bomb, stunning Sayaka and Kirihara, and then fires a dart at Sayaka but Erika deflects it with a stick. The dart suddenly releases tear gas, leaving Erika barely enough time to get Sayaka clear before a choking Kirihara falls to his knees. Chiaki uses this as a chance to escape and Erika holds off due to being unarmed. Leo suddenly jumps out and pins Chiaki down, knocking her unconscious. Kanon later meets with Isori who asks if it’s true that a freshman was caught with a hacking tool. Kanon confirms it and says Asuka Sensei will call her when she wakes up. Hearing a commotion, the pair head back to the testing area to find Sekimoto arguing with Ichihara. The pair have opposing views and Sekimoto is rudely insulting Ichihara’s work for the Thesis Competition out of spite for coming in second. Meanwhile Erika and Leo are heading home when Erika suddenly asks him if he’s free. Leo confirmed that he is so Erika offers to teach him something he is lacking. | ||

Erika and Leo are in a commuter together discussing the situation. Erika states she thinks Hirakawa was a decoy due to Marshall’s warning, so things aren’t over. She compliments Leo’s latent skills but is missing a trump card. She asks if he’s willing to learn to kill as the current opponent is like one that needs this resolve. When he agrees Erika agrees to train him to use the Secret Sword Usaba Kagerou. At First High, Kanon and Isori return to the Medical Room to question Hirakawa Chiaki. Kanon asks why Chiaki tried to steal the data and Chiaki reveals she wasn’t, she was trying to sabotage the device to take revenge on Tatsuya. Isori realises Chiaki is the younger sister of Hirakawa Koharu who was the engineer of the girl who fell at the Nine Schools Competition. Chiaki blames Tatsuya for the accident believing he chose not to stop it and lets it slip ‘that man’ agreed with her. Asuka Sensei ends the interview there and states she’ll monitor Chiaki at the hospital. On the way home, Kanon tells Tatsuya and his friends are outraged by the unjustified grudge. Tatsuya decides to leave things alone as their security is too strong for such simple methods. Isori suggests asking Hirakawa Koharu to intervene but Tatsuya says not to as it will cause more trouble and comments Chiaki isn’t the only one snooping around. That evening Chen and Lu Ganghu meet with Zhou to discuss Chiaki being captured. Zhou tells them not to worry as she knows nothing and was easy to manipulate due to her age. Chen makes it clear should the worst-case scenario appear; Zhou is to deal with her. Next day Miyuki, Shizuku and Honoka join the Tatsuya and his classmates for lunch. Honoka notices Leo and Erika are missing. Realizing they could be together, the group speculate maybe a couple has been born but after some joking, Tatsuya speculates Leo is getting some Kenjutsu training. Meanwhile Leo is indeed getting some harsh training from Erika at the Dojo as he tries to learn Usaba Kagerou. | ||

The Shiba’s are visiting Kokonoe to try his newly refurbished long-range practice grounds. Miyuki is working hard, and Tatsuya is pleased she’s getting some shooting practice in which she can’t normally do. Mikihiko was invited to join the Thesis Competition Security Team’s training and is facing off against Juumonji Katsuto of the Ten Master Clans, along with nine other people. So far seven have retired within thirty minutes and Mikihiko is feeling the pressure. While hiding, he hits Juumonji with a surprise attack using Doton Kansei before making his escape, Juumonji however is unharmed. At the Chiba Dojo, Leo has moved onto the next level of his training and is left to practice while Erika takes a break. Mikihiko is defeated by Juumonji and the training concludes. He meets with Sawaki and is invited to eat with the members of the security detail. Leo finishes his assigned task and goes to find Erika but walks in on her after her shower. Mizuki and Mikihiko are talking but trips and she stands up and Mikihiko goes to catch her and accidentally grabs her breast in the process. Mizuki runs away and the senior girls yell at Mikihiko to follow her. Tatsuya and Miyuki are still training with Kokonoe, Tatsuya has finished his run and did an excellent job getting a perfect score, by multitargeting 36 targets at a time. Miyuki praises him but he points out it's only 24 in real combat. Miyuki points out she caps out at 16. | ||

Tatsuya and Miyuki are heading to FLT on Tatsuya’s bike when he notices they are being tracked via a familiar. Realizing they are likely after the relic as Kokonoe warned. Miyuki uses her magic to destroy the familiar. The siblings arrive at FLT to find the lab is in the middle of repelling a cyber-attack. Ushiyama is coordinating the team but he cannot figure out the goal of the attack. The attack finally ends, and Tatsuya realizes it wasn’t a normal attack. Returning home, they find they have received a message from Hirakawa Koharu, Chiaki’s elder sister. Calling her back straight away they find Koharu was waiting for the call and she apologises for the situation with her sister and the competition. Tatsuya agrees to let it slide and so in place of an apology, Koharu sends Tatsuya her sisters phone logs in the hope they can help, before ending the call. Tatsuya realised her real intent in sending them to him. The Shiba's go to First High and because it's raining Tatsuya heads to the Robotics Club to work on the Thesis Competition. He’s greeted by Pixie, the clubs 3H and gets to work but after a while he finds himself getting drowsy and realizes the room is filled with gas. Sekimoto enters the room, checks if Tatsuya is asleep and tries to hack Tatsuya’s workstation when Kanon walks in on him. Sekimoto tries to talk his way out of the situation but Kanon doesn’t believe him and confirms with Tatsuya, who was faking being unconscious. Kanon orders Sekimoto to surrender but he tries to attack and is rendered unconscious by Kanon. | ||

Zhou Gongjin enters the Magic Universities affiliated hospital while using magic to cloak his presence. He spots Lu Ganghu looking around and realises his intent. Outside, Mari meets with Chiba Naotsugu and head to see Chiaki. Mari apologizes for dragging him along, but he states Erika has a new student, so it’ll be fine. Suddenly the alarm goes off and Mari realizes someone’s likely targeting Chiaki and rushes to her room to find Lu Ganghu outside the door. Naotsugu immediately recognizes him and the two launch into an intense close quarters battle, with Chiba using his Illusion Blade Kenjutsu technique and Lu Ganghu using hand to hand. The exchange continues until Naotsugu dodges a punch that blows a hole in the wall and deflects the following attack, injuring his hand and creating an opening to stab Lu Ganghu in the waist. Lu Ganghu launches a counter and is about to hit Naotsugu when his aim to thrown off by a ranged magical attack from Mari, and it hits the floor instead, causing it to partially collapse, taking Lu Ganghu and Naotsugu with it. Mari then rushes to the stairs after them. Using the chaos as a distraction Zhou enters Chiaki’s room. Chiaki apologizes for failing and Zhou says it’s ok, before giving her a bouquet of flowers. The scent puts her in a trance, and he compels her to forget all about him. Downstairs Mari arrives to find Naotsugu no worse for the wear apart from his hand, and Lu Ganghu having escaped. Meanwhile Zhou’s limo drives away from the hospital with Zhou and a frustrated Lu Ganghu inside. | ||

That evening Tatsuya calls Fujibayashi and sends her the data from Hirakawa and incident at school so she can use it to track down the enemy. She affirms the Captain wants the situation resolved ASAP so it shouldn’t take much longer. The call ended Fujibayashi lets Inspector Chiba Toshikazu know it’s ok to get back in her car. The Shiba’s arrive the school’s station to see Erika and Leo arriving together. After some teasing Tatsuya admits he can see Leo’s magic is stimulated so knows they were really teaching him knew skills. They discuss the what happened at school with Sekimoto. Tatsuya tells them Tatsuya tells them it was handled but more may happen so he’ll question Sekimoto later. Meanwhile Chen orders Lu Ganghu to deal with Sekimoto as he knows too much. | ||

Tatsuya accompanies Mari and Mayumi to visit Sekimoto at the detention centre. Mari will do the questioning whilst the other two watch through the mirror. Mari uses her magic to create a truth serum to question Sekimoto about what happened. Sekimoto reveals he was to search Tatsuya for the relic which shocks Mayumi but before she can question Tatsuya about it the alarm goes off. The three head outside of Sekimoto's room to see what’s happening. Tatsuya detects gunmen upstairs in combat with the security forces. Mayumi uses her sight to observe the situation when Tatsuya see’s Lu Ganghu approaching them, and Mari recognises him immediately. The three prepare to fight with Mari taking point and Tatsuya protecting Mayumi in the rear. Mari draws her sword and Lu Ganghu square off ready to fight. | ||

Lu Ganghu attacks and Mayumi pelts him with long ranged attacks whilst Mari engages at close range. After a brief exchange Lu Ganghu pulls back and Tatsuya notices his injury. Lu Ganghu charges again using his magic to block Mayumi’s attacks and uses a feint to charge past Mari. Tatsuya hits him with a Gram Demolition blowing away his defences. Mayumi then attacks again while Mari gets in place and throws explosive powder to distract him whilst she sets up an attack and brings Lu Ganghu down. Security quickly arrive and arrest Lu Ganghu. Later Fujibayashi and Tatsuya are on the phone and she tells him the group has been taken care of, but the leader: Chen escaped so it may not be over. With the call over, Tatsuya heads to the living room and drops onto the sofa to relax for a moment. Miyuki, seeing his unusual behavior and worried heads over to check he’s ok but nearly loses self-control when she gets close. Tatsuya wakes up to see her and she slips and nearly kisses him. Realizing what she nearly did she runs away in a fluster. Tatsuya gives chase and seeing that Miyuki is crying he apologized for worrying her, having misread the entire situation. In China Town Chen meets with Zhou to discuss the situation and request his help in securing Lu Ganghu's escape. | ||

It’s the day of the Thesis Competition in Yokohama. The Shiba’s arrive to find Erika and Kanon arguing as Erika wants to help guard but Kanon won’t accept their aid. Tatsuya points out if something happens no one will complain if the audience helps, smoothing things over. As this wraps up, Ichijou Masaki calls out to Miyuki and she greets him and Tomitsuka, who is also on guard duty. Ono Sensei is watching the lobby when Asuka arrives with Chiaki, who had been convinced to attend by Ichihara who had visited her in hospital and told her to focus on magical engineering hardware if she wishes to get back at Tatsuya. As they leave, Ono see’s Fujibayashi arrive and visit the Shiba’s. Fujibayashi meets the Shiba’s and warns them the situation may not be over. A short time after, in the venue’s café, Ono sensei is relaxing when she’s joined by Fujibayashi who warns her to back off and her supervisors have also been warned. As the competition continues, Fujibayashi calls Kazama and is told Lu Ganghu has escaped. | ||

It’s First High’s turn and Ichihara begins giving her presentation. Meanwhile Juumonji, Hattori and Kirihara have noticed something seems off in the city and Juumonji orders everyone on the security detail to start wearing bulletproof vests as a precaution. As Ichihara finishes the presentation Tatsuya begins cleaning up off stage as Kichijouji arrives to set up. As they’re talking, a sudden explosion rocks the venue. Chiba Toshikazu and Fujibayashi, who were in a corridor at the time, are making calls when Chiba is told a ship is launching missiles from the docks and the pair head out separately. As he leaves Chiba calls his father and asks for his and Erika’s weapons be delivered. Meanwhile inside the auditorium Tatsuya and Miyuki meet up just in front of the stage as gunmen rush into the room, pin down the security team members and demand everyone to disarm. Tatsuya calmly observes the situation with his eyes, attracting the attention of one of the men but when Tatsuya ignores him, the man fires at Tatsuya’s back. Tatsuya spins around and disintegrates the bullet whilst making it look like he caught it. The man then fires a burst of shots but Tatsuya stops them all, shocking everyone present. | ||

His bullets having failed to hit, the man who shot at Tatsuya panics and charges with a knife which Tatsuya easily counters and cuts his arm off, before punching him in the stomach and rendering him unconscious. The other gunmen are distracted by the exchange which allows the students present to restrain them. The situation in the room resolved the Shiba’s friends run up to check he’s ok and Tatsuya agrees to let them tag along as he moves to secure the building. As they leave Kichijouji calls out to question Tatsuya’s use of magic, but Tatsuya points out the situation is dire, so he hasn’t the time to explain and leaves. The explosions continue and the students are panicking when Mayumi asks Azusa to use her innate magic to calm the students before it gets worse. She does and the room calms allowing Mayumi to report the situation outside, the city is under attack, and give the students their options. She then leaves the First High students to Azusa. Tatsuya and company rush to the entrance and Tatsuya narrowly saves Leo from getting shot. Tatsuya uses his eyes to observe the situation and then has Miyuki disable the enemy’s guns by sharing his sight by holding hands so she can target them. With the guns disabled, Tatsuya rushes into close range and starts cutting the gunmen down, swiftly followed by Erika and with Mikihiko offering fire support from the rear. The group then head to the VIP room as suggested by Shizuku, where Tatsuya accesses the system to get a situation report. | ||

The students are evacuating as the Shiba’s and company discuss their options. Deciding to evacuate Tatsuya states he first needs to disable the competition devices and secure the data first. They head backstage to find Mayumi and the seniors already in the process of destroying the research. Juumonji arrives and they discuss the situation. When Tatsuya hears the students took the underground route, he warns them it’s not a direct route so there may be danger. Hearing this Juumonji immediately orders Sawaki and Hattori to join Azusa’s group. He and Kirihara then head out to patrol. Isori and Tatsuya handle the devices and data. After they are done, they meet up in a meeting room to discuss the situation and realise the target is likely the Magic Association. Ichihara reports Tatsuya was correct, the students were attacked but it was handled. Tatsuya suddenly aims his CAD at the wall, Mayumi uses her sight to see a truck about to hit the building, but Tatsuya disintegrates it. Missiles are then fired from the ship, but they are destroyed by Sanada of the 101st Brigade who has just arrived. Fujibayashi then arrives along with Kazama, revealing his connection to the military to the others, they inform Tatsuya of the situation and order him to deploy, shocking the students. As he moves to leave Miyuki stops him and kisses him on the forehead, causing a burst of psions to erupt from his body. Miyuki them sends him on his way. | ||

Third High are defending their coach from the enemy. Ichijou is using Rupture and it’s proving more than most of the students can handle seeing. The coach repaired Kichijouji calls Ichijou over, but he refuses saying as a member of the Ten Master Clans he needs to join the battle and has Kichijouji join the others on the evacuating coach. The students from First High have reached the shelter but the roof collapses and a mech takes aim at Chiaki and the others. Before it can fire it’s taken out by Miyuki and Mayumi, who are above ground. Mikihiko confirms the other made it inside but the entrance is blocked. The group discuss their options and Shizuku and Mayumi call their families for helicopters to evacuate the civilians whilst the students decide who will protect and hold the position. Toshikazu arrives with the police to take over protecting the civilians, allowing Fujibayashi to head out to join her unit. Toshikazu then gives Erika her sword. Meanwhile Tatsuya is armouring up in his unit’s new armour and heads out to join battle. | ||

Tatsuya takes to the skies and quickly begins neutralising enemy drones, troops and armour on his way to join Yanagi’s unit. Above the shelter Honoka uses her magic to project a map to allow Mayumi, Mari and Ichihara to observe the situation in real-time while the other students control nearby choke points to protect the landing zone. At the first choke point Mikihiko is detecting the enemy, who are attacking with mechanised tanks, whilst Miyuki immobilises them with magic and Erika and Leo close in to finish them. At the second position Isori is the one using magic to detect the approaching enemy mechs while Kanon pins them down so Kirihara and Toshikazu can close in with Sayaka on support. Investigating one of the mechs Mikihiko realised they are using magic and calls Mayumi’s group and asks Mizuki to join them as she will be able to detect the magic in approaching mechs. Mikihiko promises to protect Mizuki and the pair are quickly teased by Miyuki. | ||

Yanagi’s unit discover a Sorcery Booster in one of the enemy vehicles and they confirm the enemy is the GAU. They report this to Kazuma and are ordered to help protect Mayumi’s landing zone and the evacuation helicopters. The first of the helicopters arrives but it’s attacked by magic. Shizuku tries to protect it but her spell is ineffective. Tatsuya then arrives and blasts the attacking spell away in an instant. The first helicopter lands, loads evacuees and then departs. As it’s leaving Ichihara is grabbed from behind and taken hostage whilst a second holds a grenade to stop the others. Ichihara calmly talks to the men and subtly activates her magic, paralysing them. The last two helicopters arrive, loads up and take off while Tatsuya watches on, while reflecting on Ichihara lineage being an Extra, one of the Ichihana. He receives a message to move out as he takes out soldiers aiming at the helicopters. The battle is raging throughout the city and the Japanese magicians are being pushed back when Juumonji arrives and singlehandedly overpowers the enemy and rallies the magicians to fight against the invaders. | ||

Kirihara and Sayaka are arguing over Kirihara not wanting Sayaka to bloody her sword whilst they hold their assigned position. Mayumi’s helicopter arrives at Miyuki’s location to pick up their group first, while Honoka uses magic to hide the helicopter. They arrive at the second position to find it under heavy fire. Mari and the others try to withdraw but are flanked. Kirihara pushes Sayaka down and has his leg blown off whilst Isori takes a hit shielding Kanon. Mari tries to counterattack but her magic fails. She looks up to see Miyuki descend and cast Cocytus, annihilating the enemy in a single shot. Turning to see the two injured, she calls for Tatsuya, who arrives and uses Regrowth to restore both Isori and Kirihara to perfect health, before heading back to the battlefront. On the evacuation helicopter the students discuss what happened and Kanon demands answers about Tatsuya’s healing magic. Mayumi steps in to calm Kanon and Miyuki decides to discuss Regrowth. She tells them he can permanently restore anything to a previous state up to 24 hours earlier, but at a price. Meanwhile on the enemy ship the commander is trying to control the situation when he receives a report that Mahesvara has taken the field. | ||

On the helicopter, Miyuki reveals the reason Tatsuya cannot use magic properly is because of Regrowth dominating his Magic Calculation Area. Kanon counters saying it shouldn’t matter if he can use such an amazing ability and so Miyuki reveals the other cost of using Regrowth, having to read the entirety of the data, meaning he experiences the intense pain the healed have felt, in condensed form, silencing the group. The heavy atmosphere is broken by Mizuki who detects an intense aura below and Mikihiko investigates. On the ground Chen and his men, including Lu Ganghu are in a truck heading out to the association. Meanwhile Ichijou Masaki is chasing some retreating soldiers, who flee into China Town and close the gates. Ichijou demands the gates be opened and they are, revealing Zhou and his people along with the soldiers who have been restrained ready to be handed over. At the association Li Ganghu is overwhelming the magicians guarding the building when Mari, Mayumi, Erika and Leo come out to face him. The five enter and intense melee with Leo and then Erika being blown back and taken out of the fight. Mari then charges in and uses her magic to hit Lu Ganghu with gas during the fight. She takes a hit and is knocked down as Mayumi launches an attack with ice bullets, but before it hits, she turns it into gas, choking Lu Ganghu and knocking him out. Inside Chen makes his way to the magic database but finds Miyuki waiting for him. He’s confused how she countered his spell, but she freezes him before he can take further action. | ||

Later, after the battle was dying down, Tatsuya, Fujibayashi, Sanada and Kazuma gather on the roof of the Magic Association. The retreating enemy ship has retreated far enough away to be safely attacked. Tatsuya is given a CAD and is ordered to sink it with Material Burst. Targeting a single drop of water Tatsuya casts the spell and the ship is destroyed. They receive a report there is a fleet preparing to deploy and the four get ready to depart. Zhou meanwhile reflects on the day is pleased with the results of today’s altercation. At Tsushima base, Kazuma and the soldiers present discuss the situation with the enemy fleet and tells those present the use of Strategic Class Magic that been authorised to deal with the threat. At the Shiba residence Miyuki receives a call from Yotsuba Maya. She notices Tatsuya’s absence and after discussing the reason, Maya asks Miyuki if she and Tatsuya should visit the main house on the coming weekend. At Tsushima Tatsuya uses Material Burst on the enemy fleet and obliterates it, the sheer destruction horrifying the base staff watching. This day would become known as Scorched Halloween, a turning point in history. | ||
