Tookami Marika and Iba Alisa are walking home from school in the snow. Upon arriving Tookami Serika greets Alisa. Alisa heads to the main room where she finds Tookami Ryoutarou and Juumonji Katsuto waiting. Ryoutarou prompts Alisa to introduce herself and she gives a formal greeting.
Upon seeing her, Katsuto’s mind flashes back to the conversation with his father prompting this meeting in which his father explained to Katsuto he has an illegitimate daughter, Katsuto’s half-sister, Alisa. The decision of how to precede is left to Katsuto.
Back in the present, Katsuto explains the situation to Alisa, that they are siblings and that she likely inherited the magic of the Juumonji family. He then asks her to join the Juumonji family as they would like to welcome her as a member.
Outside the room, Marika has been listening in on the conversation.

Having said what he needs to, Katsuto leaves the Tookami residence.
Meanwhile Marika bursts into the main room and asks what the man was here for. Alisa explains he is from the Juumonji and her half-brother and that she was invited to live in Tokyo with them. Marika immediately objects and Alisa teases her by kissing Marika’s nose to clam her down and explains she doesn’t want to leave either, but her life is at risk if she stays. Ryoutarou ends the conversation here, telling them to get changed and that they’ll all discuss it together later.
Alone in her room, Alisa thinks things over.
Later, the Tookami family and Alisa sit and the table and discuss the situation. Ryoutarou explains about Katsuto’s offer to Alisa, explaining they appeared not to have known about Alisa’s birth until just recently. Ryoutarou goes on to explains that the Juumonji were the regarded as the strongest of the ‘Tens’ but that power came at a cost, it damages their own bodies. Ryoutarou then explains the issue in detail as well as that only the Juumonji can teach her how to control the ability ‘overclock’ which is causing the issue. Serika interjects after the explanation and asks why she can’t simply return after learning the ability and Ryoutarou explains they won’t let her leave after learning a secret family technique.
Marika asks Alisa if she’ll be ok, making it clear she is unhappy to see Alsia leave and Alsia tries to reassure her saying they can still chat by phone and she’s not leaving Japan.

Katsuto is driving to the Tookami residence then he is forced to pull over as Marika is standing in the middle of the road. Katsuto gets out of the car and Marika apologises for being rude and then asks Katsuto not to take Alisa away. Katsuto tries to explain it’s too risky to leave Alisa here. Marika asks them to send a trainer instead and Katsuto explains he can’t let a family technique leave the family.
Negotiations having broken down, Marika puts some distance between her and Katsuto and then tells him she’ll make him listen by force.

Yuuto drives the pair to Marika’s apartment and then gives them drinks before leaving to give the pair some space.
Later, Alisa calls home to have Yuuto pick her up. Marika is a little jealous of how close them seem, but Alisa confirms nothing is going on romantically. When they get home, Juumonji Tatsuki is heading out. Alisa tries to greet him, but he is less than friendly.
A few days later, Alisa is having lunch with Marika in her apartment. The situation with Tatsuki going to Third High School is mentioned but Marika reassures her that it will all work out if she is patient.
After lunch the pair head out shopping and have a fun time before heading home for a sleepover at Marika’s apartment.
02
Entrance Ceremony
The entrance ceremony is underway as President Shiina gives her address to the students. The student representative, Isori Mei, comes out to give her speech and Marika notices that Mei is wearing glasses, a rarity nowadays, which triggers a conversation with Nagatomi Koharu who theorises they are actually a type of terminal. The conversation is cut off my Alisa who tells them her speech is starting.
After the ceremony, the three head to get their student cards and see which classes they are in. Alisa gets into Class A, but Marika doesn’t and makes a bit of a scene when she discovers she is in Class B. Koharu informs the others she is also in Class B.
The three start chatting and Koharu notices Marika’s nickname for Alisa is Asha. She asks for permission to use Asha as well but is swiftly denied, explaining it is a special name between the two of them, the same as the nickname Mina. The conversation is joined by Joui, who comments Koharu is quick to make friends. The four exchange introductions and Joui explains that he and Koharu are childhood friends, though she denies it.
Alisa suggests they leave when they notice Mei and Shiina talking. Juumonji Yuuto interjects, explaining they are recruiting for the Student Council. After some late introductions, the conversation continues until Marika comments President Shiina feels more like a freshman, the remark supported by a student newcomer, Izayoi Souma. He banters with Yuuto a bit before being introduced as a member of the Public Morals Committee.
After some more banter, the conversation moves to venues where the girls could chat and Einebrise is suggested.
Koharu, Alisa and Marika head to Einebrise to chat. Liking the feel of the place they order their drinks as Isori Mei arrives and asks to join them. They exchange introductions and Mei recognises Koharu’s family name, linking it to Touhou Tech. The conversation turns to Mei’s family and her desire to be a magic artificer. This leads the conversation to Shiba Tatsuya and Mei goes into full fan-girl mode.
03
Solicitation Battle
Alisa has arrived at Class 1-A and quickly finds her desk but anticipates being isolated from her classmates for two or three weeks due to her appearance. However, Mei arrives and greets Alisa, the pair then start discussing classes when Joui also arrives. He greets Alisa and Mei realises she is using his chair and apologises. The two exchange greetings.
Later, in the auditorium, Usui Takemitsu is giving a speech about the clubs and how important they are. Club demonstrations then take place on stage.
After school Alisa and Marika head home and go to Alisa’s detached room, though it is more of a house. They discuss joining clubs over tea and Marika will be joining the Magic Arts Club, but because Alisa is undecided the pair agree to go on a tour of the clubs.
Next day, Usui visits Class 1-A and mistaking Marika to be one 1-As members, asks her for Joui. Marika heads inside and fetches Joui for Usui, following behind as Joui goes to speak with the senior. Usui then explains he wishes to recruit Joui to the Club Activities Group. Joui agrees to hear Usui out but before they can depart to talk, they are interrupted by another senior, Urabe Aki, the head of the Public Morals Committee. She then tries to recruit Joui to the Public Morals Committee, citing the reason as being because he took second place in the entrance exam. This annoys Usuai and the pair begin to fight. Joui brings things to a close saying he will hear Usui out first.
After the pair leave, Aki notices Alisa and then tries to recruit her as well, citing her being third place in the entrance exam as the reason. Alisa tries to refuse but Aki is really insistent. Marika interjects and introduces herself, asking for some time for Alisa to think it through. Aki agrees and asks them to come see her after school the following day.
After school, Alisa and Marika head to Marika’s apartment to discuss the situation. Alisa doesn’t want to join as she feels she wouldn’t be able to do it and so the two consider how to decline. Asking Yuuto for help is not an option, so they discuss the options, settling on saying she will only join if the two of them can as a pair as Marika doesn’t mind joining if she is with Alisa.
The next day, the pair go to the Public Morals Committee headquarters and meet with Aki. There Aki tries to recruit Alisa again with more points, but Alisa counters with her proposal to only join if Marika does. As there is only one vacancy, Aki is put into a bind until Izayoi Souma suggests asking to have the limit raised. Aki thinks it over and tells Souma to write the proposal and asks the pair to confirm that Marika and Alisa will join if the limit is raised.
04
Mock Battle
Having escaped Aki, Alisa and Mina head to the small gymnasium to see the Magic Arts Club give their demonstration.
After watching the matches, Alisa asks if Marika wants to spar with them, but Marika decides not to but before the pair can leave, Marika is recognised by one of the older students as the girl who won Hokkaido’s middle school championship. The overexcited club members rush over to greet Marika, but Alisa gets caught in the stampede. This causes Marika to snap, and she starts removing the students from Alisa’s vicinity to save her.
This attracts the attention of Kitahata Chika who rushes Marika. After a quick exchange, the pair decide to face off in a mock fight with the captain of the boy’s team acting as referee. The pair then get into a fierce exchange of Magic Arts, ending with Marika using her Reactive Armour magic to get out of a stranglehold. Marika begins to apologise for using magic but Chika rebukes her, reminding Marika this is the Magic Arts Club so magic is allowed. As the pair prepare to go for round two, but just as they get started, they are stopped by the captain of the boy’s team because Aki has arrived to break up their fight.
05
A Change of Mind
Usui, Yuuto and Aki are holding a meeting to confirm what happened between Marika and Chika. They confirm that it started after Alisa was imperilled by the Magic Arts Club, and they’d then had a consensual bout. Because Marika was defending Chika, and no one was injured, they three agree to only punish Chika for the club members going out of control, suspending her from club activities for a week, though Aki feels this is too lenient, and Marika is declared innocent.
After Marika leaves, Chika agrees Marika saved her after she lost control. Aki asks who she is, and Yuuto explains she is from the family that took Alisa in, and that she was Hokkaido’s middle school champion in Magic Arts. Chika adds that she beat the boy’s champion, which is only possible with a large gap in skill, be it magic or marital technique. Hearing this, Aki becomes more determined than ever to recruit the pair.
After getting changed, Marika and Alisa discuss what happened and Marika confirms she will be joining the Magic Arts Club. Marika asks about Alisa’s invite to the Public Morals Committee. Alisa is not enthusiastic about joining.
At home, Alisa approached Yuuto about the invite, and admits she is reluctant. The pair discuss it and Yuuto encourages her to consider it because not on could it help with her weak points, it could greatly help her make connections for the future, citing some of the big names who were prominent members, such as Mikihiko and Tatsuya. Hearing this, Alisa decides to give it some more thought.

Study by Observation of Club Activities
April 10th.
Alisa has yet to select a club, so Marika joins her on a study of observation of the clubs the school has on offer.
The pair try loads of activities, but Alisa has yet to find one that clicks with her. They bump into Koharu, who reveals she has joined the Bike Club, which Alisa realises is due to her connection with Touhou Tech.
The next day. The topic of clubs comes up and Joui reveals he has joined the Mountaineering Club, whilst Mei is joining the Track and Field Club.
After school, Alisa and Marika resume their inspection of the clubs. While observing the sports clubs they are approached by a second year, Hattori Hatsune who asks for a moment of their time. The three head to the cafeteria where Hatsune discusses the Crowd Ball Club and its current decline due to being removed from the Nine Schools Competition. Hatsune ends by inviting Alisa to observe their practice match the following day, giving her a business card with the details.
Marika and Alisa head home, and in the commuter, Alisa comments she will probably go to observe the practice match tomorrow.
07
Changes
April Twelfth.
Alisa calls for Marika and the pair head out to visit the Crowd Ball Club. Upon arriving, the pair are invited by Hatsune to watch a practice match between the seniors.
As they watch, Hatsune explains the game and how it all works. As they discuss the game, Hatsune mentions that the rules changed three years ago, limiting the size of shields that can be deployed in the match. Alisa comments this makes it harder to use shields as you’d have to make separate ones, rather than one large one. As the match continues, Alisa noticed the players aren’t getting a moment to rest, and Hatsune confirms this is one of the biggest differences between tennis and crowd ball.
Once the match is over, Hatsune suggests Alisa have a go, and the pair face off and Alisa, though is struggles, really gets into the match. Afterwards, Hatsune apologises for getting too series with a novice and Alisa heads for the shower.
On the way home, Alisa and Marika discuss the club and Alisa decides to join the club.

Revenge

In the principal’s office, Aki presents her case, explaining that they lack sufficient manpower to do the job. After some discussion, Aki suggests a change in the way the members are counted, going on to suggest that the freshmen only count as half-members to take into account the need to train them. The principal agrees, but the selection process is to remain the same.
April Sixteenth.
Marika heads over to join the Magic Arts Club. There she agrees to join but asks for a bout with Chika. Chika agrees and the pair face off in a furious match using a mix of martial arts and magic. The pair keep going until Chika appears to get the upper hand and throws Marika, following through with a ranged attack, but Marika blocks it and readies her Reactive Armour.
09
Respective Paths
While imagining what Marika is doing, Alisa heads to the Crowd Ball Clubroom to hand in her application. There she is greeted by Hatsune who gleefully accepts the application from Alisa, elated to have two new freshman members. The other girl present introduces herself as Sengoku Hiyori of Class D. As Hatsune serves then drinks, the three get to know each other as Hiyori explains she has experience at tennis but is also a novice at Crowd Ball. Hatsune is pleased to see the pair getting along well.
Meanwhile, Marika and Chika exchange blows a furious match. The exchange continues until the referee stops the match, ending it with Chika’s win due to a technical knockout. After the match, Chika tells Marika she is over relying on her barrier magic.
At 5pm, Alisa and Hatsune are cleaning up and Hatsune comments she is surprised that Alisa joined as she seems ill-suited to the sport. Alisa explains that she doesn’t care about winning, and that she joined because she thinks it will help her grow and attain better control of her magic.
When Alisa and Marika next meet with Aki, she explains that she got permission to expand the ranks so both can now join the Public Morals Committee. The pair agree but ask that their club activities be taken into account, especially Marika’s. Aki agrees. Souma interrupts their conversation, making Alisa and Marika uncomfortable, but Aki dismisses the two girls, and they head out together.
As he watches them leave, Souma comments to himself how difficult it is proving to make friends with the pair even if it’s for their own good.
10
Class Division
First High’s test results for the first end of month tests have been released.
Alisa and friends are having lunch at school but Marika and Koharu are really depressed over their exam results. Koharu has dropped to Class D whilst Marika is upset that she’s not in Class A with Alisa. The friends all resolve to work hard in the coming month, especially when they should have an advantage in the types of magic being assessed.
Later on, when Alisa and Marika are sitting on a bench at school trying to figure out where they can practice their magic. Chika arrives with Aki and greats the pair, but Alisa doesn’t realise who she is until she introduces herself. Alisa is bewildered by the gap between Chika’s usual appearance and her really feminine one today, and Aki sympathises. The conversation moves to the magic practice issue and after some discussion, the seniors suggest speaking to the student council.
The student council room where they are invited to study at the Isori household by Mei.

12
Marika’s Problem
Alisa and Marika arrive at Mei’s house. Marika is impressed and Alisa explains that the Isori family is a leading family in the field of Engravement Magic.
Mei lets the pair in. They notice the magic seal on the wall and Mei explains about the Engravement Magic they are using on the house. The fact that they are using the Stellar Furnace as a reference as they work to improve the seal comes up and Isori tells them that her elder brother, Kei, was a member of the original experiment.
Marika casually asks why Mei is using Tatsuya’s full name and she explains that it is to differentiate between him and Miyuki, Tatsuya’s fiancé. Marika notices that something feels off about the way Mei said Miyuki’s name and asks if she hates her. Mei tries to explain but quickly changes the subject.
The trio head to the training room. There they discuss what they need to practice and decide to work together.
They head over to a machine for movement type magic to practice ‘stillness’. The task is to make the ball float at shoulder height for thirty seconds. Marika goes over the time and Mei suggests that the issue might be due to the variables not being set properly.
Later on, the pair are training at school. Marika lets out a loud complaint in frustration. Alisa quickly scolds her, so Marika apologises. Marika is frustrated that she isn’t making much progress and Alisa points out it’s only been a week since they started and that she has been improving. The pair are disturbed by Izayoi Souma who offers to tutor them. When the girls turn him down, he suggests talking to their teachers and asking some questions.
13
Private Lesson
Alisa and Marika go to see their respective teachers for guidance. Marika’s teacher is Kitou Tomohiko and she finds him in the geometry preparation room.
Marika asks for help with ‘stillness’. Kitou explains that he was going to cover the material later this month and states the issue is with her variables.
After his explanation, Kitou decides to show Marika what he means and guides her into the back room which is used to create the tests.
Kitou sets up a CAD and tells her to just watch the timer at first, explaining that for this task she should not imagine thirty separate seconds, but thirty seconds as a singular thing. They then try the test properly and Marika gets her best time yet. As she leaves, Kitou suggests she practice visualising ‘thirty seconds’ if and when she cannot practice the magic itself.
On the way home, Marika tells Alisa about her private lesson. Alisa is a little concerned about Marika being alone with a man in the back room but Marika reassures her that it was a serious lesson. Marika mentions that Kitou reminded her of her brother and the conversation turns to Ryousuke.
14
Study Group
Hatsune informs Alisa and the other club members that they will be having a practice match against Third High on the 24th of May and everyone is playing.
As they are leaving, Hiyori asks if Alisa has plans and Alisa tells her that she has a study group planned with Marika at Mei’s. Alisa invites Hiyori but she declines and so the pair agree to meet up the following week to study.
As planned, Alisa goes to the classroom of 1-D where she meets Hiyori. There, Hiyori introduces her classmate Karatachibana Mamoru. Surprised that he seems to know who she is, Alisa presses the subject, wanting to know what rumours the boys are spreading. Hiyori steps in to save him, knowing they were just about her looks.
The conversation moves on to studying and because Mamoru is great at general subjects but weak at magic due to coming from a non-magic family, they agree for him to join them exchange for him tutoring them on general subjects and Alisa teaching magic.
After studying, the three are chatting away as Alisa and Mamoru are getting along quite well, chatting about potential future plans. Hiyori meanwhile has noticed how well the pair get along. Outside the classroom, Marika has also noticed how well the pair get along.
