Kudou Makoto (九島 真言) is the head of the Kudou Family, which was one of the Ten Master Clans,[1] and now is part of the 18 Assistant Houses.[2] He is in charge of the Ninth Institute.[3] He is the father of Kudou Minoru, who was born with his genetics from Makoto himself and from his sister, the wife of the head of the Fujibayashi Family.[1]
Background[]
Kudou Retsu blames himself for not stopping his son, Makoto from going too far in the pursuit of power, which created his son, Minoru. Retsu wants to end the purpose of turning magicians into living weapons.[1]
During the 2097 Ten Master Clan Conference, Makoto serves as facilitator since he is the oldest of the Ten Master Clans and he welcomes Juumonji Katsuto to the Ten Master Clans after everyone approves being witness of his succession as his family's new head. When Saegusa Kouichi objects to Shiba Tatsuya and Shiba Miyuki's engagement and makes a proposal for Tatsuya to marry Saegusa Mayumi, Makoto didn't voice who he supports but he clarifies Maya's compromise that the engagement is not annulled despite allowing Ichijou Masaki to go after Miyuki but when Kouichi insists that this also Tatsuya and Mayumi, Makoto is peeved like the rest of the clan heads by Kouichi's bile. After the break, Makoto welcomes the issue to be raised by Yotsuba Maya which is rare but when she mentions Zhou Gongjin, Makoto begins to worry. When Maya reveals Kouichi's collusion with Zhou and the rest of the clan heads concur that this is inappropriate, everyone awaits Makoto's opinion but Retsu enters the room and intervenes. Retsu confessed that the Kudou Family was guilty for partnering with Zhou who offered Taoist techniques for creating weapons with Parasites and learning how to control them in order to test them during the Steeplechase Cross-Country event against students. After this, Retsu declares that the Kudou Family will voluntarily withdraw from the Ten Master Clans and he leaves the meeting room with Makoto while Futatsugi Mai becomes the new facilitator. [2]

Minoru visits Makoto while he is inspecting a factory in Ikoma City which is where the parasite dolls are secretly in production. After confirming the number of parasite dolls available, Minoru tells Makoto that the Kudou Clan will now follow his orders to which Makoto agrees and acknowledges that Minoru is the strongest magician of the Kudou and is proud of what his son has become.
