| Introduction |
Kitayama Ushio (北山 潮) (Known by his industry name Kitakata Ushio) is an extremely wealthy businessman and financial giant and the father of Kitayama Shizuku, along with Kitayama Wataru. He also treats Mitsui Honoka as his own child.
Appearance and Personality[]
Kitayama Ushio has a frank, yet excessively light air around him, evident when Tatsuya first met him. He possesses the majesty to honestly appraise the value of the one in front of him. His hard-bitten eyes evaluate people without making them feel uncomfortable, taking the lead, striving with similar luminaries are the eyes of a leader. However, a portion of him is afraid of his wife, Kitayama Benio.
Ushio's age is mentioned to be in the early 50's.[2]
Background[]
He is introduced when he welcomed Tatsuya, Miyuki, and their friends as they were about to go aboard the Kitayama family cruiser during the 2095 Summer Break.
Ushio married late, as marrying a Magician such as Benio, involved numerous issues and although those were overcome, it had taken years.
He is nine years older than Benio and has five siblings. He came from an old industrial family that has lasted from the previous century to this age.
He is the General Manager of the Hokuzan Group, and has very strong influence in the business world as well as the political world.[2]
During the party for Shizuku who has returned from a short-term study abroad program in the USNA, Ushio intervenes when Benio confronts Tatsuya on who he is and apologizes on his wife's behalf. He later assures Benio that he will protect Shizuku if anything happens. [1]

| During Tatsuya's third year at First High, Tatsuya becomes a target of Project Dione. Ushio becomes one of Tatsuya's financial supporters for his E.S.C.A.P.E.S project at Toudou Aoba's request, a request which Ushio accepts immediately. He reasons that he understood that the agenda of Project Dione was not only to expel powerful magicians from Earth but also opposed this on account of his wife and daughter being exceptional magicians themselves who could be sent to war should the current situation escalate.[2] |
