Gate (ゲート) is what connects the spirit of the magician and the Idea, which is the platform of Eidos. There exists an interval between consciousness and subconsciousness where the Magic Sequence is projected and forwarded to the Root.

Miya can temporarily close the Gate of the opponent using her Magic. Miya was using this ability to restirct Tatsuya's magic and during the Okinawa Defense Naval Battle, when Miya commands Tatsuya to look around outside, Miya temporarily releases her control of Tatsuya's Gate at Maya's behest, thus releasing the restrictions on his power.
