Double Seven IV is the fourth episode of the third season of the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei anime and the final episode for the Double Seven Arc of the Anime.
Summary[]
The experiment with the Stellar Reactor is a spectacular success, and its success is widely reported on the news. However Takuma, who had been ordered by his father that the Saegusa family would deal with the matter regarding Congressman Kanda, believes that the Saegusa family used Tatsuya to take credit for their own accomplishments, and lashes out at Kasumi, who is passing by. Kasumi cannot overlook Takuma's insult to her family's honor and the two once again prepare to fight using magic but Kitayama Shizuku and Morisaki Shun of the Public Morals Committee intervenes and arrests them. In order to eliminate the grudge between the two, Tatsuya proposes they have a mock battle.[2]
Plot[]
At an apartment, Tatsuya who is wearing a Covert MOVAL Suit neutralizes two assailants with Mist Dispersion and confirms that an unconscious Sawamura Maki, daughter of the head of a TV station is unharmed and reports to Fujibayashi Kyouko but Tatsuya spots an airship heading towards him and also destroys it along with its passengers with Mist Dispersion. Meanwhile in Yokohama, Zhou Gongjin is lamenting the destruction of the airship and his subordinates being eliminated and suspects that it was done by Ooguro Ryuuya and decides that he needs know who he is.
April 25, 2096. At the First High School cafeteria, the interview of Ernst Rosen is showed on screen where he praises the success of the Stellar Reactor experiment of the school but Takuma who is also at the cafeteria is angry at this development with the Saegusa gaining more prestige and leaves.
At the school grounds, Takuma sees Kasumi who tries to ignore him but Takuma begins to accuse her family of using Tatsuya's experiment to be a publicity stunt for the Saegusa in the news and further accuses Kasumi of being like her older sister Mayumi to seduce Tatsuya which angers Kasumi and denies it. Kasumi also responds with insults to Takuma and they ready their CAD. As the two are about to activate their magic, Shizuku and Morisaki calls out Kasumi and Takuma respectively to cease their actions. Takuma tries to activate his CAD anyway but is struck by Morisaki's Drawless and is knocked down causing Kasumi to be in awe but Shizuku calls her name again and suddenly realizes how much trouble she is in.
At the Public Morals Committee Office, Kasumi and Takuma are before Chiyoda Kanon, Tatsuya representing the First High School Student Council, Hattori Gyoubushoujo Hanzou and Tomitsuka Hagane representing the Club Management Group, Shizuku and Morisaki who apprehended the two. Kanon and Hattori are unable to make a fair judgement since Kasumi and Takuma are members of their group so they ask Tatsuya, the neutral party to handle it. Tatsuya proposes to let Kasumi and Takuma have a match and let their skill settle it and to prevent any dwelling grudges since both sides have put their pride on the line and further points out that this happens often with new students causing Morisaki to look away. Takuma then makes an additional request that he wants to fight both Kasumi and Izumi and after giving his reasons, Kasumi accepts, intending to make Takuma regret his attitude.
At the Second Seminar Room, Tatsuya briefs Takuma, Izumi and Kasumi the rules of engagement and that he will be the referee and Miyuki will be the witness for the match. On Tatsuya's signal for the match to begin, Kasumi hurl blocks of air to Takuma to knock him off the battle zone to win but Takuma defends with Data Fortification and fires Air Bullet that is neutralized by Izumi's Zone Interference. As the battle continues Shizuku and Honoka discusses the skill level of the first years until Kasumi's "Wind Hammer" aimed at Takuma's back but he manages to neutralize it with "Dissipate" but still absorbing the attack and losing his posture from the impact then causing his Air Bullet to hit the floor in front of Izumi and Kasumi that disorients them from the shockwave and causing Izumi's Zone Interference to be cancelled. Seeing this opening, Takuma launches seven Air Bullets and with the use of Herd Control, six of the Air Bullet form a hexagon with sevent bullet at the middle and in front of the six. The inital Air Bullet is stopped by Izumi's Zone Interference and detonates but the six Air Bullet behind it pierces through, causing Kasumi to dive at Izumi to avoid being hit and once again cancelling the Zone Interference and the sisters are on the floor.
Seeing this opening, Takuma claps his hands to launch a long range Oscillation Amplification to incapacitate the twins similar to a concussion grenade but Izumi manages to activate Vacuum Fault, that sucked away the air and neutralize the amplified sound. Regaining their footing, Kasumi tells Izumi that they will do their next attack like they always do. After the three countdown, Izumi and Kasumi uses Suffocating Turbulence (Nitrogen Storm in the Anime) and through their Multiplicative Magic, Kasumi launches the Magic Sequence while Izumi gives it Magic Power. Takuma maintains his Data Fortification under Suffocating Turbulence's effect that increases the Nitrogen but depletes his position's oxygen supply then activates Million Edge. Izumi and Kasumi in response activates Heated Turbulence (Heat Storm in the Anime) that burns through the Million Edge papers flying towards them. Seeing the usage of magic is becoming dangerous, Tatsuya calls for the end of the match and dismantles all spells with Gram Demolition, leaving Izumi, Kasumi and Takuma stunned that their magic was nullified as Tatsuya and Miyuki walks toward them declaring they are both disqualified.
Izumi tried to dispute the decision but Tatsuya tells them that they do not have control of Suffocating Turbulence. Takuma steps in and argues that the Saegusa Twin's magic did not stop Million Edge and would have hit the sisters where Tatsuya used Takuma's words against him that he intends to use Million Edge to harm the sisters with the ignited papers and disqualifies Takuma due to rule violation. Takuma's anger eventually explodes and lashes out on Tatsuya for being a Weed but Tomitsuka punches Takuma in the face and angrily rebukes his behavior then challenges him to another mock battle in two days.
April 27, 2096. Tatsuya, Miyuki, Yoshida Mikihiko, Sawaki Midori, Kirihara Takeaki, Hattori, Tomitsuka and Takuma are once again at a Practice Room. Hattori briefs the same rules of engagement as before except this time, Million Edge can be used without restraint and signals the match to begin. Takuma with his Grimoire at hand, immediately activates Million Edge to Tomitsuka who stood in place and nullified the attack with his Contact-Type Gram Demolition. Takuma launches 7 Air Bullet like in the previous battle then uses Self-Acceleration to reposition but Tomitsuka uses his own Acceleration Magic to suddenly appear in front of Takuma and punches his Stomach then face, causing Takuma to fall to the ground holding his stomach in pain. Tomitsuka waits for Takuma to recover who launches Million Edge twice in a row but both are once again nullifed by Tomitsuka. Tomitsuka walks toward the stunned Takuma and punches him again, resulting to Takuma to be floored once again and Hattori declares the end of match with Tomitsuka the winner.
Tomitsuka helps Takuma get up and tells him to rest by the wall then approaches Tatsuya to request another mock battle to show how strong Tatsuya is. Hattori also concurs with Tomitsuka's reason but despite Tatsuya suggesting that a match between Hattori and Sawaki is more suitable, Tatsuya agrees with the match after Miyuki also supports the notion as a member of the Student Council to be the example and she also wants Tatsuya to display his skills with a "smile".
Tatsuya and Tomitsuka moves to the center and at Hattori's signal, the match starts where Tomitsuka charges forward with Self-Acceleration while Tatsuya uses Leap to jump back and uses Mist Dispersion that immediately got nullified by Tomitsuka's Contact-Type Gram Demolition. Miyuki is surprised by this while Tatsuya already expected this and uses Elemental Sight to see Tomitsuka's body is covered with a thick Psion armor. Tomitsuka continue his aggressive attack by focusing his Psion Armor to his fist where Tatsuya responds with nullifying it while Takuma is shocked by how Tatsuya nullified Tomitsuka's Acceleration Magic and used the interrupted phenomenon to activate his own Acceleration Magic.
The spectating students are also amazed that Tomitsuka is able to match Tatsuya in combat. With the match dragging on, Tomitsuka didn't expect how the fight would turn this bad than he initially thought so jumps back and after surrounding himself with Psion, attacks Tatsuya with a feint Heating with his kick but suddenly strike Tatsuya's head with a palm strike at an unnatural position through his Self Marionette, causing Tatsuya to be knocked down to the surprise of the spectating students. Tatsuya gets up and sees the Self Marionette's and Psion Armor's Magic Sequence on Tomitsuka's body and aims his Trident-Silver Horn. Tomitsuka attack once again but Tatsuya uses Gram Dispersion to neutralize the Psion Armor, then immediately uses Far Strike with his left hand and striking Tomitsuka's stomach who is sent flying back and lying on the ground, ending the match with Tatsuya's win. Tatsuya helps Tomitsuka get up and exchange complements while Takuma runs off the practice room.
Takuma is punching a tree in frustration but is stopped by Kasumi. Kasumi mends right hand that is bleeding and they talk about how the upper classmen are on a different level. Takuma in anger question why they are so strong despite being one year older than them to which Kasumi answers that they worked hard for it which Takuma retorts so did he. Kasumi responds that she does too but points out that the strength that shocks Takuma is different from talent, causing Takuma to weep in frustration. Kasumi tells him that his desire to be strong is his problem and leaves.
At the Yotsuba Main House, Yotsuba Maya and Hayama Tadanori talks about Tatsuya's loyalty which greatly concerns the latter on how Tatsuya can betray them anytime. Maya also points out how her Meteor Stream is a bad match against Tatsuya but assures that Tatsuya will never betray Miyuki who in turn will never betray the Yotsuba since that is how she is raised by her mother, Miya and she will become the next head of the clan. Hayama further remarks that they need Miyuki to accept being the Head of the Yotsuba to which Maya assures him not to worry since she already have a plan in mind...
