The main storyline of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei has been released across a number of different media and, given the series success, it has also inspired a number of official short and side stories which further expand the rich lore of the future world in which the series is set, as well as offering more insight into both the protagonists and a number of other popular characters.

The Irregular at Magic Highschool Movie
Gekijouban Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Hoshi o Yobu Shoujo (The Irregular at Magic Highschool The Movie: The Girl who Summons the Stars) is a side story set during spring break of 2096. It has since been released as both a manga and light novel and during its screening three additional short stories were released as part of a promotion.

Kana Ishida Art Works
The Kana Ishida Art Works book is a completion of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei artwork by the main illustrator of the light novel series, Kana Ishida. Included in this work is the short story Battle Royale.
Magazine

Reminiscence Audio Drama
Included with the release of the audio drama of light novel 8 was a bonus short story set between volumes 8 and 9 titled Halloween Party in November.
Dengeki Bunko Super Appreciation Fair
As part of the Dengeki Bunko Super Appreciation Fair of 2020, a promotional short story called The Beautiful Onee-sama and That Detestable Guy on the back of a card. This short story details a brief encounter at a festival between several characters and was available in bookstores around Japan during the event.
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei SS
A short story titled Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei SS was released in May of 2016. It contains the four short stories that occur during the Steeplechase Arc which where previously released in Dengeki Bunko Magazine as well as a new fifth story, Temptation of A Rose, which follows Chiba Erika and Saijou Leonhard who are attending the 2096 Nine Schools Competition to support their friends as part of the audience.
Web Novel
Two web novel spin-offs have been release so far.
The first is a side story titled The Plan to Assassinate Tatsuya Shiba has been released as a web novel and later rereleased as both a light novel series and in manga form. This spin off series follows the professional assassin Hashibami Yuki who is employed by the Yotsuba.

The second is a prequel for the planned side story titled Cygnus Maidens. The protagonist of this series is Juumonji Alisa, the half-sister of Juumonji Katsuto who was born though an affair their father had with a Russian defector before his remarriage to his second wife. This series is set at First High, two years after Shiba Tatsuya has graduated and follows Alisa and her friend Tookami Marika's life at magic high.
